Spotify uses three different quality settings for streaming, all in the Ogg Vorbis format. The "normal" default Spotify streaming quality on your computer is 160 kbps, or 96 kbps on mobile devices. If you pay the monthly fee for Spotify Premium, you'll get 320kbps which is "high quality" on desktop and "extreme quality" on mobile.
You can use Spotify for free, but its features are limited. Historically, Spotify's free and paying users both had access to the full Spotify library. Starting soon, artists will have the option to keep new releases out of Spotify's free tier for up to two weeks. With the free tier, music can be played in shuffle mode and you can manually skip up to six times per hour every hour. Another limitation is that Spotify Free users must endure an audio or video advertisement for every 30 minutes of music they enjoy.
Spotify Premium will remove all adverts so you can listen without interruption, you can also skip as many songs as you deem necessary. With it, you can use Spotify's mobile app on your phone to play any song you want. Besides, Spotify Premium allows you to download up to 10,000 tracks from Spotify on up to five devices for offline listening, so you can listen when you're away from the internet or just want to cut down on your data usage.
If you use Spotify to play music on the internet only, either will work. But if you want to stream music from Spotify for offline listening, you need to upgrade to the Premium subscription. So many Spotify users are wondering is there any way to download music from Spotify without premium?
